ACTION:
Prevention and treatment of post partum hemorrhage.
Promote uterine contraction . .

Route and Dosage:
P.O., I.M., I.V. 0.2 - 0.4 mg

SIDE EFFECTS:
HYPERTENSION, CRAMPING

NURSING IMPLICATIONS
Check BP before giving. If BP systolic is above 140, withhold medication and notify doctor.

METHERGINE SAME AS ERGOTRATE PITOCIN/ Syntocinon

ACTION:
Induction of labor and contro of hemorrhage

Route and Dosage:
I.M., I.V. 0.3 -lcc 1amp. added to I.V>

Side Effects:
Hypotension, tetanic, uterine contraction may lead uterine rupture

Nursing Implications In I.V.administration, doctor must stay with patient. Watch for rigid uterus, or constant contraction. Frequent BP and Pulse Monitor I.V..
