Slow pulse, slow respiration, hypotension. Nursinq Implications: Side rails up.  Assistance to bathroom at night.   NEMBUTAL Action: produce sleep              Barbiturate   Route & Dosage:  P.O. I.M. gr.iss Side Effects: Restless, excitement, hangover.  Allergic responses Nursinq Implications:  Same, maybe habit forming   PHENOBARBITOL ACTION: Depress CNS. Allay pre_op and post_op apprehension.  To        provide sedation                        ­ Route & Dosage:  P.O. I.M. 15 to 30 mg   Side Effects:  Headache, nausea, vomiting, vertigo Nursing Implications:  Side rails up for older patient. Sudden withdrwal may produce symptoms of anxiety, tremors, convulsions.
