Medical Therapeutic - CardioVascular Assessment
       

CARDIOVASCULAR ASSESSMENT

1.    Pain:  Character (type)/ location/ duration/ intensity, precipitating aggravating factors / relieving factors.

2.    Respiratory Problems:
       A.     Exertional dyspnea (with exercise)
       B.     P
       C.    Paroxysmal Nocturnal dyspnea

  • Sudden onset ; wakes patient up - Orthopnea need to sit up to breath
  • Cough ,blood, tinged frothy sputum - Fatigue
  • Palpitations - Cerebral Anoxia (hypoxia)
  •  Irritability - Restlessness
  • Confusion - Apprehension
  • Syncope - Hemoptysis
  • Edema

Conditions of extremities

  •     Rales/Ascites/Dependent (pedal)
  •    Color/temp/skin integrity/Presence of Petechiae

Syncope

  • Neck Vein distention (Jugular Vein Right Side C.H.F.)

DIAGNOSIS

  •    History -  ECG changes (may 24 hours) -  Serum Enzymes CK,AST,LD
  •    WBC increase -  SED increase -   Treatment Rx
  •    CHF with PE complications (pulmonary edema) -  MORPHINE -  AMINOPHYLLIN
  •    DIGOXIN - DIURETICS (LASIX) - OXYGEN - GOOD NURSING CARE
  •    STOOL SOFTENERS ( prevent Vasalva Maneuver) - Diet low sodium (NA)
  •    Soft (no hot spices) - No ice - Low cholesterol. Low fat. Low stress, Rehab exercise program,
